Operating Principle
• The vibration switch is sensitive to vibration in a direction perpendicular to its mounting base.
• It contains a vibration detecting mechanism that acts as a mechanical amplifier.
• The mechanism activates a snap-action switch when the selected level of vibration is exceeded.
• The mechanism consists of an armature suspended on a flexure pivot restrained by a permanent magnet.
• The armature is held against the stop pin by the hold-down magnet, maintaining a precise air gap.
• The armature is released when the peak vibration inertial force and adjustable compression spring force exceed the force of the holding magnet.
• The mechanism can be reset manually or electrically.
Vibration Switch Mounting
• The vibration switch must be mounted in a plane that will detect the vibratory motion for which protection is desired.
• The switch may be mounted at any location along the length of machines containing rotating shafts that are horizontal and parallel to the base of the machine.
• If a mounting bracket assembly is used, it must be constructed of sufficient thickness and properly reinforced to prevent mechanical resonances.
• All Four Corners of the vibration switch and the mounting assembly must be rigidly secured to the machine.
